My dream holiday "Outta this world'

‘Brring....’ screamed the alarm. I tired to ignore it. I wanted to stay in my dream. My dream ‘Outta This World holiday. ‘

In my dream I went to Pluto. I felt like I waited approximately nine years to see my best dream holiday ever. I was so excited and couldn't wait to get there.

I was surrounded by rocks covered with ice. There were no trees, no birds, nothing compared to Earth. I had second thoughts about coming to this planet. Later on I tried to find a good spot. Nothing was there, “ anyone there “ and yet still no one there.

Thank you Gabrielle and April for reading my work before I post it on my blog, and making sure it makes sense.

Where in the world.

Rebels were given a number of names of rugby-playing nations of the world. These were some of the nations that are recognised by the world governing body of Rugby Union, the International Rugby Board (IRB), as member unions but did not qualify for RWC 2011.
We divided them up amongst our team. I was given the nations listed below:
This is what I found - Cook Island

I have decided to study Cook Island for our Immersion task.

As a self-governing tirritorial democracy of New Zealand , the Cook Island Flag Features the Union Jack (Upper Left), recalling New Zealand
, long association with Great Britain. The 15 Stars represent the 15 main Island group.

The Nation of the Cook Islands comprises 15 islands spread over 850,000 square miles (2.2 million square kilometres) of ocean smack in the middle of the South Pacific between Tonga to the west and the Society Islands to the east.

The town or the big city on Rarotonga is Avarua, the Cook Islands capital.
Avarua is easily seen on foot with main street stretching about a mile along the harbor.

The Population of Cook Island , as etimated in the late 2010 , is 21,390.

Cook Island National sport is Netball.The Cook Islands national netball team represent the Cook Islands in international netball. In recent years they have finished 10th at the 2010 Commonwealth Games and 7th at the 2007 world netball championship.

"Where The Heck Is New Lynn?”

Different Auckland town centres have adopted Rugby teams from countries that qualified for the World Cup.
I found out information about :
The location in Auckland;
Something special about this place;
A 'potted' history of the place;
If it has it's own symbol of some sort.
(If we couldn't find a symbol we chose a picture that told more about the place).

“Where The Heck Is New Lynn?”

New Lynn- Is a suburb of West of Auckland approximately 10 kilometres the population was 15,510
New Lynn was located towards Auckland urban area.
In the north and Blockhouse Bay in the south, the island is a mere 2800 metres wide.

Keep Your Eyes On the Ball

We are using the nations of the 2011 Rugby World Cup as our inquiry path.

For this unit we are in one of four teams:
Brumbies, Force, Rebels, Stormers.

Rebels

There will be a number of tasks for us to navigate to achieve our goal of an excellent result in this unit. There are a mixture of individual and team tasks to be completed. The main task that will show our learning in this unit will be a Hyperstudio presentation about one of the countries in the World Cup competition.

I reckon Australia going to beat New Zealand in the world Cup by a trashing point.
Rugby Union is not my favourite sport. I like to play Rugby League. My favourite player in the Nrl are Akuila uate , Mattew Bowen and Jamie Soward.

"IF......"

If I was a millionaire.
I would buy my family each a limo.

If I was a millionaire.
I would buy a special land named after my family
.
If I was a millionaire.
I would buy my own Shopping Mall named after me.

If I was a millionaire.
I would buy my family each there own company.

If I was a millionaire.
I would buy my church everything they need.

Earle Dickson Band Aids.

Earle Dickson invented Band Aids in 1920. He came up with the idea while working at Johnson &Johnson company . They were for his wife who had constant kitchen accidents. He also went to Osu and Michigan. He went there because he was originally interested in mechanics he graduated from Yale University.
Earle Dickson was born on October the 10th 1892 in Grand view, Tennessee and died on September 21 1961 at the age 68.
After several weeks of kitchen accidents, Earle got a bright idea. Earle sat down and prepared some ready-made badges by placing squares of cotton gauze along an adhesive strip and covering them with crinoline. Now Josephine just had to cut off a length of the strip and place it on her cut. His boss, James Johnson, saw the invention and decided to manufacture “ Band Aids” and sell them to the public. Earle Dickson was made a Vice- president of the Johnson & Johnson company.

Close to 1925,he had to pay $30,000 because he had forgotten to pay tax for 2 year. Soon after,he had to pay $2,000 for his wife to go to the hospital. Then he made $1,000 from Band Aid. By 1927,he had a total of $21,400 from his marvelous invention.

Band Aids is a quick and easy way of treat minor and injuries. Even though Earle Dickson has died but his invention can save life's, their are types of Band Aids like cartoon Characters and Different colours therefore the little ones can be kept entertain.
