"Where The Heck Is New Lynn?”

Different Auckland town centres have adopted Rugby teams from countries that qualified for the World Cup.
I found out information about :
The location in Auckland;
Something special about this place;
A 'potted' history of the place;
If it has it's own symbol of some sort.
(If we couldn't find a symbol we chose a picture that told more about the place).

“Where The Heck Is New Lynn?”

Keep Your Eyes On the Ball

We are using the nations of the 2011 Rugby World Cup as our inquiry path.

For this unit we are in one of four teams:
Brumbies, Force, Rebels, Stormers.

Rebels

There will be a number of tasks for us to navigate to achieve our goal of an excellent result in this unit. There are a mixture of individual and team tasks to be completed. The main task that will show our learning in this unit will be a Hyperstudio presentation about one of the countries in the World Cup competition.

I reckon Australia going to beat New Zealand in the world Cup by a trashing point.
Rugby Union is not my favourite sport. I like to play Rugby League. My favourite player in the Nrl are Akuila uate , Mattew Bowen and Jamie Soward.

I would buy my family each there own company.

If I was a millionaire.
I would buy my church everything they need.

Earle Dickson Band Aids.

Earle Dickson invented Band Aids in 1920. He came up with the idea while working at Johnson &Johnson company . They were for his wife who had constant kitchen accidents. He also went to Osu and Michigan. He went there because he was originally interested in mechanics he graduated from Yale University.
Earle Dickson was born on October the 10th 1892 in Grand view, Tennessee and died on September 21 1961 at the age 68.
After several weeks of kitchen accidents, Earle got a bright idea. Earle sat down and prepared some ready-made badges by placing squares of cotton gauze along an adhesive strip and covering them with crinoline. Now Josephine just had to cut off a length of the strip and place it on her cut. His boss, James Johnson, saw the invention and decided to manufacture “ Band Aids” and sell them to the public. Earle Dickson was made a Vice- president of the Johnson & Johnson company.

Close to 1925,he had to pay $30,000 because he had forgotten to pay tax for 2 year. Soon after,he had to pay $2,000 for his wife to go to the hospital. Then he made $1,000 from Band Aid. By 1927,he had a total of $21,400 from his marvelous invention.

Band Aids is a quick and easy way of treat minor and injuries. Even though Earle Dickson has died but his invention can save life's, their are types of Band Aids like cartoon Characters and Different colours therefore the little ones can be kept entertain.

Invention about Flags.

In the past flags were first made out of wood then they were made out of metal. People flew flags in faraway China over 4,000 years ago. Most people fly there own country flag when they go on a war or visiting.

The Olympics has there own flag with Five Rings and Five Colours. Each ring represents a continent.It means that people from five continents like Africa, Asia, Europe, North America, and South America – come to play.

Railway flags tell the trains what to do. For Example, a red flag tells the train to stop and a blue flag on the side of a train means someone is working on the train. It means nobody can move the train.
