My dream holiday "Outta this world'

‘Brring....’ screamed the alarm. I tired to ignore it. I wanted to stay in my dream. My dream ‘Outta This World holiday. ‘
In my dream I went to Pluto. I felt like I waited approximately nine years to see my best dream holiday ever. I was so excited and couldn't wait to get there.
I was surrounded by rocks covered with ice. There were no trees, no birds, nothing compared to Earth. I had second thoughts about coming to this planet. Later on I tried to find a good spot. Nothing was there, “ anyone there “ and yet still no one there.

Thank you Gabrielle and April for reading my work before I post it on my blog, and making sure it makes sense.

Where in the world.
Rebels were given a number of names of rugby-playing nations of the world. These were some of the nations that are recognised by the world governing body of Rugby Union, the International Rugby Board (IRB), as member unions but did not qualify for RWC 2011.
We divided them up amongst our team. I was given the nations listed below:
This is what I found - Cook Island

I have decided to study Cook Island for our Immersion task.
As a self-governing tirritorial democracy of New Zealand , the Cook Island Flag Features the Union Jack (Upper Left), recalling New Zealand
, long association with Great Britain. The 15 Stars represent the 15 main Island group.
The Nation of the Cook Islands comprises 15 islands spread over 850,000 square miles (2.2 million square kilometres) of ocean smack in the middle of the South Pacific between Tonga to the west and the Society Islands to the east.

The town or the big city on Rarotonga is Avarua, the Cook Islands capital.
Avarua is easily seen on foot with main street stretching about a mile along the harbor.

The Population of Cook Island , as etimated in the late 2010 , is 21,390.

Cook Island National sport is Netball.The Cook Islands national netball team represent the Cook Islands in international netball. In recent years they have finished 10th at the 2010 Commonwealth Games and 7th at the 2007 world netball championship.
"Where The Heck Is New Lynn?”
Different Auckland town centres have adopted Rugby teams from countries that qualified for the World Cup.
I found out information about :
The location in Auckland;
Something special about this place;
A 'potted' history of the place;
If it has it's own symbol of some sort.
(If we couldn't find a symbol we chose a picture that told more about the place).
“Where The Heck Is New Lynn?”
New Lynn- Is a suburb of West of Auckland approximately 10 kilometres the population was 15,510
New Lynn was located towards Auckland urban area.
In the north and Blockhouse Bay in the south, the island is a mere 2800 metres wide.

Keep Your Eyes On the Ball

We are using the nations of the 2011 Rugby World Cup as our inquiry path.
For this unit we are in one of four teams:
Brumbies, Force, Rebels, Stormers.
Rebels
There will be a number of tasks for us to navigate to achieve our goal of an excellent result in this unit. There are a mixture of individual and team tasks to be completed. The main task that will show our learning in this unit will be a Hyperstudio presentation about one of the countries in the World Cup competition.
I reckon Australia going to beat New Zealand in the world Cup by a trashing point.
Rugby Union is not my favourite sport. I like to play Rugby League. My favourite player in the Nrl are Akuila uate , Mattew Bowen and Jamie Soward.

Earle Dickson Band Aids.

Earle Dickson invented Band Aids in 1920. He came up with the idea while working at Johnson &Johnson company . They were for his wife who had constant kitchen accidents. He also went to Osu and Michigan. He went there because he was originally interested in mechanics he graduated from Yale University.
Earle Dickson was born on October the 10th 1892 in Grand view, Tennessee and died on September 21 1961 at the age 68.
After several weeks of kitchen accidents, Earle got a bright idea. Earle sat down and prepared some ready-made badges by placing squares of cotton gauze along an adhesive strip and covering them with crinoline. Now Josephine just had to cut off a length of the strip and place it on her cut. His boss, James Johnson, saw the invention and decided to manufacture “ Band Aids” and sell them to the public. Earle Dickson was made a Vice- president of the Johnson & Johnson company.
Close to 1925,he had to pay $30,000 because he had forgotten to pay tax for 2 year. Soon after,he had to pay $2,000 for his wife to go to the hospital. Then he made $1,000 from Band Aid. By 1927,he had a total of $21,400 from his marvelous invention.
Band Aids is a quick and easy way of treat minor and injuries. Even though Earle Dickson has died but his invention can save life's, their are types of Band Aids like cartoon Characters and Different colours therefore the little ones can be kept entertain.

Invention about Flags.
In the past flags were first made out of wood then they were made out of metal. People flew flags in faraway China over 4,000 years ago. Most people fly there own country flag when they go on a war or visiting.
The Olympics has there own flag with Five Rings and Five Colours. Each ring represents a continent.It means that people from five continents like Africa, Asia, Europe, North America, and South America – come to play.
Railway flags tell the trains what to do. For Example, a red flag tells the train to stop and a blue flag on the side of a train means someone is working on the train. It means nobody can move the train.

SURF LIFE EDUCATION.

“OMG look at the weather” as a whispers to my brother because i didn’t want to wake up the rest of my family. Once I saw Mui I ask her if she’s gonna go for a swim but she said no because of the weather, it was going to rain. Once we got to Mairangi Bay everyone mostly the boys said,”Wow look at the wave that’s big.” The weather got even worst once we hop of the bus and I started to get cold. I said to myself look at the cloud it so cloudy and the cloud is grey as well. There were four beautiful lifeguard girls that Introduce there self and some of them kept saying that there beach is the best and we should go there. We learned lots of thing like how to be safe and swim between the red and yellow flag. It was time for morning tea and the best thing I like about morning tea was playing rugby because rugby is one of my sport. When Rosie, one of the lifeguard blowed the whistle that was when everyone have to get there bag, walk up stair and put it in to this little room, ready to listen about surf life. “Name the first four letters and they were S.S.S and W. Straight away i knew it was Slip,Slop,Slap and Wrap because Pt England News always remind us what are the Three S’s and the one W. We all had a game outside and there i saw a square with four bright orange cones on the Conner. Megan sent the boys of first to put there togs on then she sent the beautiful girls last. After whistle went that was when everyone got excited because they knew it was time to go for a swim in the freezing cold water. Once my toes nip that freezing cold water and i just didn’t care because wanted to be strong and not to be afraid of anything. We had 15 min free then we will be out to get change . I had heaps of fun swimming with the enormous wave that kept bumping of some of the student. “ BRRRRRRRRR BRRRRRR” the whistle went as I said “oh no it time to get out” I said. On the bus had arrived and it was time to leave Mairangi. My best part about Mairangi Bay was swimming in the beach and also the part I didn’t like was hoping on to the bus. Mairangi Is one of the best beach i’ve eva been to. !!!!!Mairangi Bay Rock!!!!!!!

COOK ISLAND TOUCH TOURNAMENT AT HOUSE PARK.

Saturday the 20th of November we had our Cook Island touch tournament. We were told to leave home at 8:00 am but we ended up going at 8:15 am. Our first game was was at 9:40 right after round 1. I was so anrgy in our first game , because the ball that we were using had no grip and it just kept sliping out of our hand like nothing. Our first game was a draw and if one of our player didn't drop the ball the score would of been 2-1. I was so happy with my team for winning all of our games. When we got in to the final it was a pretty hard game.But unfortually we lost. Our team name is called Mangaia which is the best Island in the cook island.
